Art Central Hong Kong
One of Hong Kong's leading contemporary art fairs brings together galleries, artists and audiences from over 20 countries.
Its program spans emerging and established artists, performance art, installations and talks, extending well beyond the traditional gallery format. Studio 3AM translated Art Central's identity across a diverse range of physical and digital touch points for the 2018 and 2019 events, ranging from marketing brochures, digital banners, tickets and event signage. Each application needed to communicate a large, varied program to local and international audiences, with the accommodation of English and Traditional Chinese to be considered across every output.
3AM’s approach was to develop modular design system that prioritised consistent typography, colour and compositional principles to unify every touchpoint. The system could expand for information-heavy materials, then simplify for tickets and advertising without losing its identity.
The major success of the project was captured in the ability to give English and Traditional Chinese equal weight across all applications. Careful typographic relationships allowed both languages to coexist clearly while preserving the campaign's visual character, creating a highly flexible and cohesive design system.
The result was a coherent campaign environment helping visitors navigate Art Central while reflecting the fair's energy and international perspective.
