TEDxSydney Tipping Point

Exploring the critical moment when an idea tips everything into something new.

TEDxSydney’s theme, Tipping Point, explored moments of change across society, culture and technology. Studio 3AM was engaged to create an event identity that could capture the tension, uncertainty and possibility of approaching a critical moment.

We built the identity around a plane moving through space, shifting perspective and revealing new imagery as it tips. This simple action creates a visual expression of change, capturing the moment between stability and transformation.

The system extends across the event identity, microsite, wayfinding, environmental graphics and print, using movement and inversion to challenge expectations of the familiar TED visual language. The opening film expands this idea through themes of anticipation, pressure, momentum, change and balance, following an abstract form as it moves through a moment of transformation.

The identity created a unified expression of change across physical, digital and moving environments, giving TEDxSydney a visual language that reflected the uncertainty and possibility of what comes next.
